I make art to show how beautiful the world can be, even when it's tempting to forget.
My artwork reflects my heritage in the Gulf Coast and Barbados, with a heaping spoonful of my years living and studying in Spain, the Netherlands, and Australia. Wherever I go, life along the water makes me feel at home. I hope my paintings help you feel at home wherever life takes you.
Acrylic on Canvas
My paintings on canvas are inspired by an experience or story that's big enough to be seen and retold time and again.
I layer underpaintings so there're often
more subtle images and colors waiting for a second look.

Watercolor Paintings
I use watercolors to capture specific moments in time; an early sunset reflecting off of giant boulders in the Seychelles, or the flush of a lover's skin. Many of my watercolor series are visual travelogues.
Portraits & Commissions
I do most of my portraiture in watercolor on linen rag, but I am very happy to work with clients who may want acrylic, or even watercolor on canvas.
If you enjoy my work, please feel free to contact me about commissions of any kind.

About
Dustin Batson
With roots in New Orleans and Barbados, Dustin Batson grew up as a global nomad and his artwork reflects his eclectic life experience.
He studied in Madrid, The Hague, Charlottesville, Sydney, and New York, but his primary art education came from observing the ways that light shapes perceptions of color and form.
In his artwork, he seeks to reveal some of the joy and vibrance that can often be overlooked in the modern world.
His most impactful artistic influences are Mississippi's Walter Anderson, the Picou brothers of New Orleans, and Australian Michael Johnson.
